Therapy

Bryony provides therapy for children from age three upwards. She adjusts her treatment approach to each child and family that she is working with, and incorporates various psychological modalities into her work, along with child-centred and humanistic play approaches with children. Child-Centred Play Therapy is an evidence-based approach that has been shown to improve outcomes for children suffering from a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. As parents/caregivers are such an important part of the therapy process, Bryony provides psychoeducation and support to parents/caregivers alongside child therapy sessions for each family that she is working with.

Assessments

Bryony is able to provide cognitive (IQ), adaptive functioning, and ADHD assessments. Bryony has completed training in the assessment and diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and can provide provisional diagnosis of FASD when working in conjunction with a paediatrician.

Fees

Sessions generally run for 50 minutes. In order for children to properly integrate therapy and make positive changes, sessions need to occur regularly. It is important to Bryony that she is providing therapy that is regular, effective and affordable for families, so Bryony’s standard therapy fee is set with this in mind.  Please contact Bryony to discuss fees for your child’s therapy and/or assessment.

Medicare rebates

Some sessions attract a Medicare rebate. In order to claim a Medicare rebate, children need to be referred by a GP under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). Your GP will be able to determine if your child meets the criteria for a referral under a the MHCP initiative, which entitles an individual to a rebate of $89.65 from the total session fee, for up to 10 sessions per year. An additional 10 sessions are available currently under the Better Access initiative.
